Math wins the vote for the best subject in the poll, Other Languages second, Science and E.L.A. tied for third, music and computers for fourth, and history last. The results seem the same with my peers. I wonder why people like math better than history? Maybe it's the type of math there in, and it's their easiest class. Math is about, "the systematic treatment of magnitude, relationships between figures and forms, and relations between quantities expressed symbolically." (Dictionary.com). Basically, it's like solving a puzzle, and I guess people like to problem solve. Math also seems to be one of the most popular classes possibly because you don't write words all the time, except if it's an answer to a question, and instead you use numbers. "Mathematics as a formal area of teaching and learning was developed about 5,000 years ago by the Sumerians. They did this at the same time as they developed reading and writing."(http://pages.uoregon.edu/). Math has been around for a long time and people still say it is their favorite subject.

Hi Aidan,

ReplyDeleteHow do you feel about math? I wonder what kinds of activities students like best in math? Do you think it is the easiest subject?
